01.01.08 - Norman E. “Ed” Kampbell Joins the Jason team
Jason Consultants is pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2008 Norman E. “Ed” Kampbell, President of Rehabilitation Resources Solutions, will join Jason Consultants Group as a Senior Consultant associate.

“We are extremely pleased to have Ed Kampbell join our team of experts, as Ed has extensive experience in the area of cured-in-place-pipes (CIPP), fold and form, close fit liners, and more recently rehabilitation of sewer laterals which we see as a major need in our industry”, says Dr. Dec Downey, Chairman of ISTT and a Principal at Jason Consultants. Ed is also an expert in pipe-soil structural interaction and the design of both flexible and rigid pipes. He has over 29 years experience in the design, manufacture, installation and rehabilitation of pipelines for water and wastewater projects in over 42 countries. Ed’s career has included periods as a design engineer, public works manager, and a construction professional all in the field of underground technology. For the past three years, Ed has been the President of Rehabilitation Resources Solutions where he has been working with both manufacturers and suppliers of CIPP lining systems, developing approaches for lateral and mainline renewal. Ed Kampbell will continue to be located in Columbus, Ohio where Jason Consultants has already established a local presence.


09.09.07 - Downey Elected ISTT Chairman
Dr. Dec Downey, a Principal of Jason Consultants, was elected Chairman of the International Society of Trenchless Technology (ISTT) at the ISTT board meeting held in Rome on September 9, 2007. Dr. Downey was the UK Society of Trenchless Technology (UKSTT) Chairman from 1999 to 2001 and has served as a member of ISTT’s executive committee since 2000. Dec will serve as Chairman for at least two years supported by Prof Sam Ariaratnam as Vice Chairman. Also elected to the ISTT Executive Steering Committee in Rome; Olga Matinyuk (Ukraine), Derek Choi (HK), Karol Franczyk (Austria) and Norman Howell (UK).

Dr. Downey is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Water and Environmental Manager, and has a PhD in Materials Science. He has spent almost 30 years working with pipes in manufacturing, rehabilitation, technology transfer and contracting before becoming a consultant in 2002. He has chaired the CIWEM Pipelines Panel and is currently a member of the Pipeline Industries Guild Utilities Panel. In 1992 he was awarded the Kurose Prize by the Japan Microtunneling Association.


07.12.07 - Jason assists the Scott Wilson-CDM Joint Venture in HK
Jason Consultants has been appointed to assist the Scott Wilson -CDM Joint Venture providing condition assessment and rehabilitation expertise on the Replacement and Rehabilitation of Water Mains Stage 3 - Mains in the New Territories project for the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Water Supplies Department. Jason Partner Dec Downey took part in a Value Management Workshop at the Jockey Club Sha Tin on July 7th. The project involves replacement and rehabilitation of 135km of Water Mains in Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, Sheung Shui, Fanling, Sha Tin and Tai Po. Pipe in diameters above 600mm will be subject to detailed condition assessment. The condition assessment is underway and the construction phase will run from late 2008 to early 2013. Key areas of concern are located at Castle Peak Road, Yuen Long and Lion Rock Tunnel Road Sha Tin


05.23.07 - Continuing Progress in New Delhi with YAPII
Jason has been involved since 2003 with the TEC Consortium, project managers for the Japan Bank for International Cooperation funded Yamuna Action Plan on the Delhi sewer components preparing the DPR's and more recently assisting TEC in oversight of the Delhi Jal Board's consultants MWH work of prequalification, tendering and tender evaluation. In December 2005 Jason Consultants on behalf of TEC coordinated a Ministry of Environment and Forests National Rivers Conservation Directorate Workshop on the Dissemination of Trenchless Technology in India. The three New Delhi sewer projects, construction of new sewer by microtunnelling at Wazirabad Road and Bela Road and the rehabilitation of the Ring Road Sewer are progressing rapidly towards implementation and Jason anticipate further involvement in early 2008.
