GEOSYNTHETICS GEOSYNTHETICS IN CONTAMINATED LAND REMEDIATION We undertook an investigation into the development of the UK contaminated land remediation market in the light of new legislation on brownfield land use. The competitive structure of the market and opportunities for specialist geosynthetics in target market segments were analysed. The client used the study to position his products to maximise market share.
GEOSYNTHETICS IN LANDFILL CONSTRUCTION We undertook an investigation of opportunities for substitution of natural materials with geosynthetics in landfill construction and capping. A technical and economic review of legislation, codes of practice, and competitive advantage showed that there was an opportunity for market expansion in a specific segment in certain target markets. The study included identification of optimum competitive positioning and was followed up by support in marketing and business development implementation.
THE EUROPEAN MARKET FOR GEOSYNTHETIC CLAY LINERS We investigated the size and competitive structure of the market for GCLs in western Europe. The market was defined in terms of application segments and technical drivers. This enabled an identification of markets with growth opportunities in specific segments where our client was able to gain competitive advantage through exploiting the superior technical performance of his product.
THE EUROPEAN MARKET FOR EROSION CONTROL PRODUCTS A major US geosynthetics manufacturer wished to increase its European market in erosion control products. We undertook a detailed review to identify attractive segments and countries and to analyse the effects of environmental regulations and similar drivers on future market potential in selected target countries. The relative competitive positioning and future potential of natural and synthetic materials was also evaluated. The client developed a strategy of focus on certain specific markets as a result of this study.
NEW PRODUCT OPPORTUNITIES We were engaged by a leading European manufacturer to identify market potential for a range of new and innovative geosynthetics products. This extensive review covered client needs, competitive products and future trends. This was followed by an analysis of entry opportunities and their attractiveness based on the impact of introducing a differentiated product range. The study enabled the client to develop and focus his product development strategy in order to launch a competitive and commercially attractive range of new products.
DRAINAGE GEOCOMPOSITES One of Europe’s major geotextile manufacturers commissioned us to identify the market size and technical differentiators of the drainage geocomposites market in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This included building as well as civil engineering applications. We identified all manufacturers, their product types, and their sources of geotextiles. We also undertook a technical review of the performance requirements for the geotextiles in this application. This enabled the client to understand his competitive strengths based on the performance of his materials, and to identify potential new target customers for his geotextiles, where those strengths provided real benefits. |
